Equipping today’s students with the tools and resources to enter the technology field.

On February 27th, 2020 the second CodeHouse: Tech Exposure Day was held at Morehouse College. This event was designed to encourage and expose high school students in the Atlanta Metropolitan School System to the technology field, historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and the pipeline that exists from HBCUs to the technology industry. The students were exposed to professional engineers, designers, entrepreneurs, and recruiters from industry-leading technology companies. This year the students also had the chance to hear from the admissions teams from Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta Universities. The 300 student participants gained valuable insight on the different career pathways into the technology field.

CodeHouse: Tech Exposure Day was a day long three-part event: (1) a tech expo room of displays and interactive exhibits; (2) a STEM based competition; and (3) a panel of HBCU students who majored in tech related fields. As the saying goes, it takes a “village” of commitment, support and participation to make CodeHouse successful. This report will detail much of the activities and involvement of the CodeHouse: Tech Exposure Day.
