CodeHouse Announces Partnerships with MLT, Jopwell, and Tallo to Prepare Rising HBCU Students for Careers in Tech
CodeHouse, an Atlanta-based non-profit with the goal of helping more HBCU students access careers in tech, will be celebrating their second cohort of CodeHouse Scholars. Founded by Morehouse and Spelman alums, siblings Ernest Holmes and Jaycee Holmes and their friend Tavis Thompson, CodeHouse has impacted over 6,000 students as a nationally-recognized force for change bridging the gap for HBCU students and the tech industry.
Since awarding the first cohort of the CodeHouse Scholars Initiative in 2021, CodeHouse has:
Awarded nearly $3 million in scholarships to incoming college students, funded by leading tech companies, including Google, PayPal, and Microsoft
147 students awarded four-year scholarships of $20,000 each

"When we started CodeHouse, we were bridging a gap we knew personally. Watching these students grow from promising freshmen into graduates landing full-time roles at companies like Google, Disney, and PayPal makes everything we do worth it." – Ernest Holmes, President
The Buckhead Art & Company, owned by Howard alum Karimah McFarlane and one of the largest Black owned galleries in the Southeast, will host the graduation celebration on April 25, 2026 at 7 pm. The celebration will honor students earning their Bachelor’s degrees.
Students credit CodeHouse for helping them build community, access internships, build on technical skills, and provide financial resources to support them throughout their college journeys. Post graduation, many scholars plan to start full-time jobs or pursue graduate school.
Anthony Nicholson, a graduating Cohort 2 Scholar from Morehouse College shared the most impactful part of CodeHouse:
“Coming from a science background, coding initially felt intimidating, but CodeHouse created an environment where learning and collaboration felt natural. Being surrounded by motivated students helped me build confidence and showed me how technology can bring people from different disciplines together.”
CodeHouse celebrates the graduates and remains dedicated to investing in future tech leaders.
